The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Council of CACCI, currently led by Chairman Dr. Dennis Hu, is a platform for exchanging views and information on how participants effectively harness ICT power, and support the economic development and technology advancement of their respective national economies and businesses.
Its focus on productivity and upskilling helps industry players in their respective economies as ICT in general is a critical factor on trade development itself as it helps correct, improve and make more relevant the very processes with which trade is conducted. The technologies ICT provides greatly help in electronically smoothing and coordinating global supply chains between a wide range of services and products on the one hand and a broad market on the other hand.
The ICT Council was formally first organized by the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) during the 68th CACCI Council Meeting held on May 19, 2004 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Mr. Stanley Wang, then Deputy Director General, Institute of Information Industry, Taiwan, was elected Chairman of the AICTC. The session also approved the Draft Constitution and By-Laws of the Council, and agreed to pursue the activities and programs outlined in the draft Work Program prepared by the CACCI Secretariat.
The ICT Council organizes webinars (Envision the Future of AI) and training activities among its members, besides its official annual meeting normally held in coordination with the annual CACCI Conference.
The latest official ICT meeting was held in Singapore in November 11, 2024 where important issues in the industry were discussed such as the benefits of smart tourism, including enhanced visitor engagement; improved efficiency and service provision for businesses and individuals; increased competitiveness for tourism-related businesses; mitigation of climate change effects; revenue generation; and enhanced tourist security.
